How to use Hijaiyya Hunt
Each worksheet is one letter. Print it, sit with your child, and go on a letter hunt together. A sheet takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
Before the hunt
- Show how the letter is written on a whiteboard or writing mat. Let your child trace it with a finger, or shape it with play dough.
- Tell a short story: the dinosaurs are hungry, and the letters are hiding from them. Your child's mission is to find every one.
- Begin with Bismillah and a short du'a for learning, then tick the box at the top of the sheet.
The three levels
Choose by what your child can do, not by age. Children with different ages can each have their own level of the same letter.
- 1. HatchlingOften 3–5. Big letters, easy to tell apart.
- 2. ExplorerOften 5–7. Lookalike letters and tilted shapes.
- 3. InvestigatorOften 7+. Joined shapes: start, middle and end.
During the hunt
- Use colour pencils or crayons. Markers can soak through the page.
- Praise the effort, not the child: “You looked so carefully!”
- Make sure your child is rested and has eaten. A tired hunter finds fewer letters.
- If a letter is hard to find, guide patiently. Children copy how the grown-ups around them handle a struggle.
- Tick “Add an answer page for grown-ups” to print the answers on a second sheet.
